Promoting Reading or the Library?

In working on this project, I found a quote that truly encapsulates the idea behind reading promotional activities.
"Reading promotion gives you the chance to raise the profile of books and reading in your school, while at the same time sharing your passion for high-interest titles, favourite authors, and the joy of living a bookish life." --National Library of New Zealand

It's about lighting the reading fire, and making the library the TRUE hub of any school building. I especially feel that at the MS/HS level we can still help our students find a lifelong love of reading. In order to do this we have to promote both reading and our library. We need to make the library a place students want to be, and that boils down to making personal connections with our students and creating an environment that is comfy and safe. The library has to be a place that exudes "the JOY of living a bookish life."

You will find tabs for Elementary, MS/HS, and Links/Resources. Of course, most ideas can be modified for any grade level, but some ideas seem better suited to the age groups as listed. I tried to offer a balance of activities, even if my heart is at the teen level.
